What is a Tempeh Starter?
Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian fermented product. It is an acquired taste but once you start to like it you can get addicted to it - just like every other fermented foods!
Raprima tempeh starter is a rice flour based tempeh starter inoculated with Rhizopus Oligosporus, produced in a controlled, totally safe environment and regularly tested. This starter is suitable to be used to make most types of tempeh, including soy tempeh, chickpea tempeh, rice tempeh, barley tempeh and any of the pulses and seeds. It is NON GMO and animal product free so its totally safe to be used in vegan and vegetarian cooking.
Why it’s good for you?
Tempeh is made from whole beans. Therefore there will be a higher content of protein, fiber and vitamins compared to tofu. Tempeh is a good source of vegan protein and also the fermentation process makes the legumes easier to digest and absorb the micro and macro nutrients.
