Taking organic oats to the next level.
How to use whole oats
Whole grain rolled oats are incredibly versatile and can be cooked in various ways. Here are a few popular methods:
1. Stovetop Oatmeal:
- In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water (or milk) with ½ cup of rolled oats.
- Add a pinch of salt and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and reached your desired consistency, remove from heat and let it sit for a minute or two before serving.
- Customize your oatmeal by adding sweeteners (like honey or maple syrup), fruits, nuts, or spices (such as cinnamon or vanilla extract).
2. Overnight Oats:
- In a jar or container, combine ½ cup of rolled oats with ½ cup of liquid (such as milk, yogurt, or a dairy-free alternative).
- Add sweeteners (if desired) and mix well.
- Cover the jar and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 4 hours).
- In the morning, give it a good stir and add your favorite toppings, such as fresh fruits, nuts, or seeds.
3. Baked Oatmeal:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix 2 cups of rolled oats, 2 tablespoons of sweetener (like brown sugar or maple syrup), 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups of milk, 1 beaten egg (or a flaxseed/water mixture for a vegan option), and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, and pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Add any desired mix-ins, such as berries, nuts, or chopped fruits.
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until the top is golden and the oats are set. Let it cool slightly before serving.
These are just a few examples, but you can experiment with whole grain rolled oats in other recipes too, like cookies, granola bars, or smoothies.
The oats can also be ground into flour or used as a topping for yogurt or salads too.
Enjoy!
