This product features delicate fronds of dark green wakame, known for their mild flavor and soft, tender texture. It's versatile and easy to incorporate into various dishes, making it perfect for miso soup, salads, and stir-fries.
In Japan, sea vegetables have been valued for their delicious taste, versatility, and nutritional benefits. This wakame is hand-harvested from the clear, mineral-rich waters off the Japanese coast, washed, then hung on ropes to dry slowly in the sun. Unlike many commercial varieties, this wakame is not treated with softening agents, such as enzymes or monosodium glutamate (MSG).
To prepare, simply wash and soak in lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes. Drain well and rinse briefly. If preferred, you can remove the stalk and chop it into smaller pieces. For soups and stir-fries, add the softened wakame towards the end of cooking to preserve its delicate flavor.
This wakame, scientifically known as Undaria pinnatifida, is a brown seaweed that becomes bright green when soaked.
