How to Make Black Garlic with Solo Garlic

Transform your solo garlic into rich, umami-packed black garlic—perfect for sauces, dips, or gourmet garnishes.

Ingredients & Tools:

  • 500g solo garlic (whole, unpeeled)

  • Rice cooker or slow cooker (keep warm function)

  • Small glass jar (optional, for better heat distribution)

Steps:

  1. Prep Garlic: Wipe bulbs clean (do not wash or peel).

  2. Cook Low & Slow:

    • Place garlic in rice cooker/slow cooker (or jar inside cooker).

    • Set to "keep warm" (60–70°C / 140–160°F).

    • Let ferment 2–3 weeks, checking every 5 days.
