This red chili powder, also known as Gochugaru (고추가루) is one of Korea's most popular cooking ingredients. It is mostly used to make Korean chili paste (Gochujang) that can be used to season Kimchi, make Korean soups and stews, and side dishes like spicy cucumber.
Korean chili powder is not as spicy as compared to other chili powders like from Thailand so it is not the most accurate substitute for these kind of spices. It would still be great option if you want to put a Korean spicy twist to your dishes and a perfect choice if you are making a Korean recipe!
